Why does my laptop freezes on boot? Is this a motherboard problem?
I have an HP laptop and recently Reinstall Windows XP, it gave me an error saying Windows has recovered from a serious error. Do not use a recovery disc, I bought a genuine copy of Windows XP. Installation was well without problem now, when it comes to the window start screen and freezes. I replaced the harsh land years ago. Could it be that the motherboard is failing? Any suggestions to correct the issues that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
It could be a memory problem. You can download a Microsoft memory tester (free) and see if that's the problem. In general, however, bad memory would cause a restart, would not have been able to reload WinXP. It is also possible that your unit hard disk failure.
