Intel QuickPath Interconnect System
Hey guys, Icarus is back with more of some of the new features of Intel X58 motherboard news. Today I will talk about another element: QuickPathInterconnect (QPI) system.
One of the new features that makes this interesting is Intel's new Interconnect QuickPath (QPI) system. QuickPath interconnection or QPI, was created by Intel as a competitor to HyperTransport system, AMD uses a similar system in AMD processors and motherboards. Much of the characteristics of the QPI system is similar to that of the HT (HyperTransport) system.
In other words, the QPI system provides an effective and quick between the processor (Core i7 series only) and the motherboard (Intel X58 motherboards only). By providing this link, the QPI system allows computers to save energy operate at enormous speeds, and allow the Core i7 efficiently worker threads that are assigned to each base.
The link between the processor and motherboard base is also crucial, because it means that other components also have access to other components connected to the motherboard, for example, the graphics card has a connection with the processor, memory is a link on the hard disk, and so on. For this reason, there are a lot less room for error, each component connected to the motherboard will access to other components through a network effectively allowing other elements to help address minor, and perhaps even large errors. In addition, the system assumes QPI the memory controller is inside and under the control of the processor.
Now, how this effect, the hardware itself? Well, according to benchmarks with the X58 motherboard and Core i7 processors, which combines the best processor outperformed its predecessors. Now what this means that the QPI system has had an effect on this? Probably. But how the QPI system affected this performance difference is unknown. It may have been processor, may have been the design of both circuits of the Core i7 and the X58. But this is known, the system QPI is a new feature can make a difference, big or small.
