Can be used in HP HP-RAM machines do not?
I have a PC self-construction (Chaintech motherboard, generic PC2100 RAM Athlon XP CPU). I was looking to upgrade from 512 MB of RAM 1.5 GB so I found two sticks of 512MB PC2100 (1GB total) for the best price. They are Samsung HP branded RAM. I put in my system and I have no problems. The system turns on (fans, hard drive), but the screen is black (video does not pass through) and I get a loud sound the motherboard every 5 seconds. I take the new RAM and Whall, restarted. So I did research and found little information on the RAM. However, HP seems to RAM can be used in an HP motherboard?? Is this true? "Chaintech CT-7NJL6 Samsung PC2100-25 331-Z (P / N 261584-041) DDR ECC CL2.5" is the memory RAM is not compatible? I could not find a solid answer and motherboard user guide is no help, of course. RAM is not branded by the manufacturer or brand of the machine, but the speed and construction. (PC2700, non ECC, etc) If you have built consistent, the brand does not matter. Read RAM compatible, go to crucial.com and set the computer name and model. This is a free service that will tell you the settings you need. I have never proved otherwise … all types of RAM and see what is right. Not sure you can do that, but you can try. Good luck.
