Very hard to contribute to the programming question .. UNIX .. etc?
The maintenance of a clock that can be read by anyone any user program only requires that the operating system to read a physical device (to prevent the physical time) and then write the entire time in a variable the world can read. Suppose you have time to read the hardware clock and update the variable is 100 microseconds. What percentage of total CPU time is spent maintenance of a clock that is accurate to the millisecond resolution (ie, the clock continues to reflect the correct time to within a thousandth of a second). The microsecond resolution 100? Resolution of 10 microseconds? Explain your reasoning. any help would be great
