OverClocking CPU?
Hey everyone, im very new to Overclocking..i understand the concept but im having trouble actually getting it to do what i want… I Have a P5N32-E Sli Plus Asus MotherBoard, matched with a Q6600 Quad Core GO CPU…it runs at stock 2.4 and i can get it up to 2.88 stable but after that its a no go… Right now my Voltages are at: NB=1.35 SB=1.5 HT=1.35 VCore=1.45 VTT=1.45
Do you guys have any idea on what to do, people are reaching 3.6 on this processor on air and im trying to get atleast 3.2… any help would be appreciated..thanks
I guess you miss out one important concept about overclocking
When the frequency is increase, your voltage amplitude level decrease. Beyond a certain limit, the voltage level is too low and it starts to becomes an error.
Thats why people increase the vCore. Increasing the core voltage bumps up the amplitude of the voltage signal again
With that extra amplitude, you can further increase your frequency
Tweaking with voltage is dagerous though, so do it in very small increament.
Furthermore, watch your temperature, because more voltage means more power loss and higher temperature.
