what are the advantages AMD cpu have over Intel’s.

I have an AMD Opteron processor and one advantage is that the driver you install (www.amd.com)lets the processor speed up or down. For example, the processor is a duel core 2.2ghz. It runs at 1ghz until the computer needs more processing power. So, in turn the fan doesn’t run of full speed all the time. When the temp from the processor raises the fan then speeds up to cool it down.
Benefits: Less noise, power, and wear and tear on your system.
(Note: To activate this feature you have to set the power options in windows to Laptop. Even if its a tower system.)
